EDITORIAL STANDARDS

How we decide what belongs on this page.

Healthselect is an editorial reference project, not a clinical practice. This page explains how we source information, where our limits are, and how we handle your data.

Editorial review process

EDITORIAL STANDARDS

Reference writing, held to a written bar.

Every guide on this site is written to a consistent internal standard: state what is generally established, separate that from interpretation, and name where genuine uncertainty remains. We do not present interpretation as settled fact.

We do not fabricate studies, journal citations, named reviewers, or institutional affiliations. Where a claim would normally require a specific citation we don't have, we either omit the claim or describe it explicitly as general background rather than a sourced finding.

SOURCING & REVIEW ETHICS

What "reviewed" means on this site.

Content on Healthselect goes through an internal editorial review focused on clarity, accuracy of general reference ranges, and consistent labeling of established fact versus interpretation. This is an editorial process, not a formal clinical peer-review process, and we do not describe it as one.

We do not claim certifications, hospital affiliations, or clinical partnerships that have not been explicitly established. If a page does not name a specific credential, none should be assumed.

PRIVACY & DATA PRINCIPLES

Your inputs stay with your browser.

Every calculator on this site runs entirely in your browser. Values you enter into the eGFR, dosage-reference, BMI/BSA, or lipid tools are not transmitted to a server or stored by Healthselect.

Information submitted through the consultation form is used only to respond to your message and is not shared with third parties for marketing purposes.

CORRECTIONS & TRANSPARENCY

Common questions about our process

What happens if a guide turns out to be wrong or outdated?

We revise the article and note that it was updated. We don't quietly rewrite history — content that changes meaningfully is treated as a correction, not a silent edit.

Does Healthselect replace a doctor's advice?

No. Every tool and guide here is educational reference material. Personal medical decisions should always involve a qualified clinician who knows your full history.

How are reference ranges chosen for the calculators?

We use widely published general reference bands and named formula versions (for example, the CKD-EPI 2021 equation or the Mosteller BSA formula) rather than inventing our own thresholds.

How do I report an error?

Use the consultation desk contact form and select "Content correction" as the topic. We review every submission.

Have a correction or a question about our sourcing?

The consultation desk routes editorial questions directly to our review process.
